Yorkie puppies at Yorkies 2 Love, Breeder of Yorkshire Terriers, Florida Yorkie Breeders.
I have been wanting to make this page for a long time because I want to educate people before they buy a yorkie puppy or any puppy.

Yorkies are the most popular breed according to the AKC registry today. The number of litters and yorkie puppies being registered is more than ever today.
There are people that just want to breed yorkies. They buy a yorkie from this person that will sell a yorkie to them with papers and then from that person that sold them a yorkie with papers and then they breed. They don't know the pedigree within the two dogs they are breeding, they are not breeding to the AKC standard and probably most of them don't even care about the standard or know it.... in the long run these types of breeders are creating poor quality yorkies with health problems, over sized, ears down, and yorkies that are a emotional mess. They don't educate the person that wants to buy from them, they tell them anything to sell them a puppy, they push the puppies out the door by six and eight weeks of age, the person buys from them because they want a yorkie puppy but are limited to funds and then the yorkie doesn't turn out to be what they wanted then they end up being upset. This is how and why yorkies end up in rescues.

Why do some breeders sell their puppies to these types of people with breeding rights? Because they can't sell their puppies any other way or they can get more money for their yorkie puppies by allowing others to breed them. If they sell their puppies with breeding rights then people will buy from them, then they breed not knowing what they are doing or probably don't even care about the quality they are breeding....once again it is all about money.

I feel sorry for the yorkies in the world that should have been someone's loving pet or lap buddy, many of these yorkies have been bred for others just to make money not to mention how some of these types of breeders take advantage of the dog by breeding the heck out of it.

Then there are breeders selling shorkies, yorkinese, snorkies etc... these breeders are mixing the yorkshire terrier breed with another breed. Why do they breed like this? Again for the money what else! They are selling these types of dogs for $275.00 up to $2,000.00 per puppy. Breeding poor quality yorkies is bad enough as this really hurts the breed, but mixing the breed.. this makes me sick!

This is having a negative impact on the Yorkshire Terrier breed because of the poor quality being produced and offered for sale. The Yorkshire Terrier is a expensive little dog. Show homes and reputable breeders have worked very hard to get where they are at and it has been very costly to us. All of our puppies are akc yorkie puppies. Why do we do this? Because we want to always improve the Yorkshire Terrier breed and are dedicated to it as well. And people think that if you breed you make money? Not if you do it right... it costs us a lot of money for our show quality yorkies, travel expenses, hotel costs, camping fees, gas, our time, our training, if we need professional handlers, vet bills, coat care products, heating bills and I could keep going on and on... it is these types of breeders that I am trying to educate you about that are making the money, creating poor quality dogs and over populating the dog industry.... not the show homes and reputable breeders....

Yorkie puppies are being sold on non reputable internet sites, through puppy brokers, puppy mills and being imported from other countries. People who buy from these types of places do not know the condition of the yorkie puppy when they buy it, where it came from and how it was taken care of and most of their puppies are not registered yorkies with AKC.

Breeders also advertise their yorkies for sale as Teacup Yorkies or Miniature Yorkies. When they advertise in this fashion they are trying to sell their yorkshire terrier puppies period. There is no such thing as a Teacup Yorkie or Miniature Yorkie in the Yorkshire Terrier breed. The reason they advertise like this is so you think you are buying a special type of dog. These types of breeders are only breeding to sell puppies and are not breeding to the AKC breed standard. By doing this they are breeding very small yorkie females and putting their life in danger.

Reputable breeders do get small yorkies or tiny yorkies which some people call teacup yorkies or miniature yorkies. At times as we have no control over size and these types of yorkies are pet yorkies. We are careful and plan our breeding's to the best of our knowledge but once in awhile we will produce a small yorkie even though we breed at least a five pound female up to a seven pound female.

People that are on a limited income will take the chance and will buy a yorkie puppy from yorkie breeders that are advertising yorky puppies in the news paper and on some of these internet sites. I would suggest, save your money and buy a yorkie puppy from a reputable breeder than from a breeder that is selling out of a newspaper or off from some of these internet sites. The internet sites charge people to advertise and the breeders pay their prices as well to advertise their yorkie puppies including the Teacup Yorkie and Miniature Yorkie. Then why are breeders advertising their Teacup Yorkies or Miniature Yorkies? For the money because they sure aren't breeding to the AKC standard especially when thats all they keep advertising.

Internet sites don't know the breeders, don't know the conditions as where the puppies were raised, if it was a respectable breeders home or if they are a reputable, or if they raise their yorkie puppies in a barn two miles out in the back yard etc... they don't know the breeders ethics, quality or if they even have puppies. They are advertising because it is a business to them and they are only doing it to make money. Many of these sites have disclaimers about not being held responsible when one reads what is being advertised on these types of site.

There have been people that have sent money to buy a yorkie puppy and ended up getting ripped off as there was no yorkie puppy to buy. I have also been told that some have imported yorkie puppies that were sick etc... and when they contacted the breeder either the breeder would not take the yorkie puppy back or the person that bought the yorkie puppy had to pay the huge shipping price to return the puppy. In the long run the person that imported the yorkie puppy had to keep it because there were no other choices.
The sad thing about this all is... I have had calls from people that stated to me that they thought that they were buying a quality yorkie puppy that was going to be a five pound yorkie and then it grew up to be a twelve pound yorkie, they still loved it but they were not going to buy like that again. Or when they bought their first yorkie puppy they met the breeder in a parking lot etc... I bought a yorkie from a breeder and it had????? and it died and she would not replace it.
Each person has to decide what kind of pet they are looking for and what is important before buying a puppy. Things that should be important are if you like the breeder, does he or she have good references, does the breeder guarantee their puppies in writing, if you trust the breeder, do you feel he or she is reputable, can the breeder answer questions without stumbling over words, is he or she breeding to improve the breed or just breeding, does the breeder have more than one breed.
